Warby Parker x Off-White Are Your New Favorite “Sunglasses”

by fuzong posted 2017-07-31

Affordable eyewear brand Warby Parker is the peak of fashion start-ups, rapidly expanding (the brand says it wants to open 25 stores this year) and spawning a whole generation of companies that call themselves the "Warby Parker of X." Off-White is also a growing, relatively new fashion label, but where Warby Parker is all about affordability and pragmatism, Off-White is about what's cool—no matter what the price. (The brand's $300 T-shirts rarely stay in stock.) Now W.P. and Off-White have joined forces for a capsule collection of three sunglasses, which dropped today in Warby Parker stores and online, as well as in select Off-White stores.

Virgil Abloh, founder and designer of Off-White, is known for bringing a conceptual approach to even seemingly simple designs, like his upcoming Nike collaboration meant to look like the kicks aren't quite finished, his take on the classic Ikea blue bag, or his use of quotation marks around just about everything he does (that would be a "coffee table," not a coffee table). When it comes to these Warby Parker sunglasses, Abloh made three different Wayfarer-inspired styles, simply called "Small Sunglasses," "Medium Sunglasses," and "Large Sunglasses" to distinguish between them.

Of the collaboration, Abloh says, "I welcomed the idea of bringing a unique concept to life, one shape extended and compressed to express a different emotion within eyewear." And because the sunglasses are only $95 a pop, you can afford to pick up each pair and wear them depending on your mood that day. That's what we like to call a great value. Or, as Abloh might put it, a "Great Value."
